Axe engraving is a popular way to personalize your axe. But here is the question what should you get engraved that will look cool or represent you? There are many different designs and ideas, really cool ones that I’ve seen people have created for their throwing axes. To help inspire you, I’ve created a list of some of my favorite axe engraving design ideas:
Your axe throwing name
Most people have a nickname for axe throwing my axe throwing name is “Slips,” which is a part of an old Gamertag I used growing up. I’ve seen people personalize their axes by getting their name engraved on the head of the axe and it really is a cool addition. One downside you should think about is if you change your name, then it could be outdated at some point.
Something that represents your axe throwing name
This is my favorite for engraving. For my name, Slips, I would get something like a caution wet sign engraved to represent my axe throwing name, almost like my personal logo. This is such a cool way to make sure your axe is engraved in a unique way to you.
Sports teams
I know a lot of people that are huge sports fans and get their team’s logo engraved on their axe. This is a great idea if you want to show support for your favorite team while also having an awesome-looking axe.
Name of Your Axe
I’ve always been a fan of naming things I own, from my first beat-up car (RIP Bertha) to my computer. In my opinion all the best throwing axes have names and you should name your axe then have it engraved onto the axe itself. This is great if you want to have more than one axe and is a funny way to distinguish them from just their brand name.

Celtic knots are a popular choice for axe engraving because they look great and have a lot of meaning behind them. There are many different designs that you can choose from, so finding one that fits your style should be easy.
Norse Symbols
Norse symbols are another popular choice for axe engraving. When people think about axe throwing they generally think of Norse culture, so these types of designs make perfect sense. Even if you might not have Viking blood!
Animals
Animals are a popular choice for axe engraving because who doesn’t love furry friends? Animals can also represent a lot of things and can be a great metaphor. For example, an eagle may represent strength and freedom. Maybe this is just me, but I’ve always thought Dragons are a really cool design look, especially on wood or metal. They also have some important cultural backgrounds and meanings behind them. For example, in China, the dragon is a symbol of good luck.
Celtic Crosses
Celtic crosses have a unique interlocking design that makes them an interesting engraving choice. If you have Celtic heritage, there are many times family Celtic designs you could get engraved.
Hearts
Hearts are a popular choice for axe engraving because they can represent many different things. For example, a heart may represent love, while a broken heart may represent pain and suffering. There are many different designs to choose from, so finding one that fits your style should be easy.
